Elijah Cup Ministry

In 1 Kings 17, during a drought, Elijah tells the poor widow of Zarapeth that if she makes him a small loaf of bread with the last of her flour and oil, her “jar of flour will not go empty, or the jug of oil run dry, until the Lord sends rain upon the earth.” In faith, the widow baked the bread and fed Elijah. For the next year, the widow, her son, and Elijah ate bread made from the bowl of flour and jug of oil.

This ministry prays for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life. The Elijah Cup is a chalice that has been used to consecrate the Precious Blood at Mass. Each weekend, a family, couple, or individual, who has signed up will be called forward at the 10:00am Mass to receive the Elijah Cup. They commit themselves to a full week of prayer for workers of the vineyard to bring us Christ.

En 1 Reyes 17, durante una sequía, Elijah le dice a la pobre viuda de Zarapeth que si ella le hace una pequeña barra de pan con lo último de su harina y aceite, su “tarro de harina no se vaciará, o la jarra de aceite secar, hasta que el Señor envíe lluvia sobre la tierra ". En fe, la viuda horneó el pan y alimentó a Elijah. Durante el año siguiente, la viuda, su hijo y Elijah comieron pan hecho del cuenco de harina y la jarra de aceite.

Este ministerio reza por las vocaciones al sacerdocio, el diaconado y la vida religiosa. La Copa Elijah es un cáliz que se ha utilizado para consagrar la Preciosa Sangre en la Misa. Cada fin de semana, se llamará a una familia, pareja o individuo que se haya inscrito a la Misa de las 10:00 a.m. para recibir la Copa Elijah. Se comprometen a una semana completa de oración para que los trabajadores de la viña nos traigan a Cristo.
